PA 447


Pennsylvania Route 447 is a 26.3 mile long north–south state route located in northeast Pennsylvania in The Poconos. The southern terminus of the route is at Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 209 in Smithfield Township. The northern terminus is at Pennsylvania Route 191 and Pennsylvania Route 507 in Dreher Township.

PA 447 begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 209 and exit 310 of Interstate 80. PA 447 begins heading towards the northwest as Independence Road. In East Stroudsburg, PA 447 has a concurrency with US 209 Business. After PA 447 splits from US 209 BUS, it is called Analomink Road and continues on its northwest course. At this point PA 447 has begun paralleling railroad tracks and the Brodhead Creek. In Stroud Township, PA 447 has a two mile long concurrency with Pennsylvania Route 191. North of the split from PA 191, PA 447 is called Creek Road, continues on a northern course, and continues to parallel Brodhead Creek. In Price Township, PA 447 crosses a mountain area with many dangerous curves. In Barrett Township, PA 447 intersects Pennsylvania Route 390. Just south of the Pike County border, PA 447 is renamed to Spruce Lake Retreat and crosses Mount Wismer.

As PA 447 enters Pike County it is called Panther Road. PA 447 runs for 5 miles in Pike County, passing many lakes and ponds including Penn Vista Lake.

PA 447 enters Wayne County for only one tenth of a mile. In the village of Newfoundland, PA 447 terminates (ends) at an intersection with Pennsylvania Route 191 and Pennsylvania Route 507.
