AL 149
State Route 149 is a short route that connects the southside of downtown Birmingham, Alabama, USA, with the south suburbs of Mountain Brook and Homewood. Before the completion of Interstate 65, SR-149 was the truck route of Highway 31 and Highway 280.
The northern terminus of SR-149 is at the interchange of University Boulevard and the Red Mountain (Elton B. Stephens) Expressway (US-31/US-280). There are no route indicators for SR-149 at this interchange. From this interchange, SR-149 follows University Boulevard through the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, heading in a generally southward direction. Between Exit 259 and Exit 255, SR-149 parallels Interstate 65 as both routes enter the city of Homewood. In Homewood, SR-149 is routed on Green Springs Highway until it intersects with Lakeshore Drive. At that point, the route turns east, passing Samford University, then junctioning again with US-31 and then at its southern terminus with US-280.
The entire route is in Jefferson County.
