GA 51

State Route 52 (SR 52) is a state highway that runs west-to-east through portions of Hall, Banks, Franklin, and Hart counties in northeastern Georgia. The route runs from its western terminus at SR 52 in Lula to its eastern terminus at Lake Hartwell north of Hartwell.

From its western terminus at SR 52 in Lula, SR 51 travels east to Homer. After traveling a short distance on a former alignment of US 441, the route continues east, passing through rural parts of Banks and Franklin counties. The route has an interchange with I-85 west of Carnesville. West of Franklin Springs, the route takes on a somewhat odd routing; it becomes concurrent with SR 145, and the two routes travel to the north-northwest for a short distance, before SR 51 departs and continues east to Canon. In Canon, SR 51 becomes concurrent with SR 17, and the two routes travel northeast to Bowersville, where SR 51 departs and continues to the east. Just to the west of Hartwell, the route becomes concurrent with SR 77, and the two routes travel east into downtown Hartwell. In Hartwell, SR 51 intersects US 29/SR 8, then departs and travels north, crossing backwaters of Lake Hartwell before ending at a boat ramp on the lake.

SR 51 is a somewhat minor route in the region, though the route does see a significant amount of traffic near Homer and Hartwell, including the concurrent portion with SR 77, which sees an Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) of over 10,000 vehicles.
